K-drama Review: High School King of Savvy (2014)

I recently finished watching High School King of Savvy (2014). I was looking for a Korean drama that is not too serious and has a light story. This is one of the recommended classics, though the story might still be controversial for some. The 10-year age gap between the female lead (28) and male lead (18) can still raise some eyebrows today, though. If the situation is reversed, that might seem acceptable in society. Still, considering everything, this is a fun series.

Seo In-guk plays it well as a teen and seems like a fun person. As an adult, his older brother is more serious, and though introduced as an intelligent person, he focused on revenge instead. The female lead, Lee Hana, looks older here. I watched her on Voice, and she's definitely prettier there. I like their interaction with Seo In-guk's high school friends (Kang Ki-young and Lee Tae-Hwan). They are so funny together.

For other characters, Oh Gwang-Rok's voice is noticeable and pleasing. The grandfatherplayed by Kwon Seong-Deok was also adorable and his passing on this series is sad. Kim Won-Hae and Jo Han-Chul office banter is also hilarious. I'm surprised to see Shin Hae-Sun here as one of the office workers and she looks chic. Lastly, Lee Soo-Hyuk pretty face is something we can all enjoy.

My Rating: 4 Stars
